AEIP answers to the EC Public Consultation on institutional investors and asset managers' duties regarding sustainability

Following the recommendations of the High Level Expert Group on sustainable finance’s interim report from July 2017, the European Commission focused on further clarifying on fiduciary duties (duties of loyalty and prudence) of institutional investors and asset managers on the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and long-term sustainability considerations.

The European Commission launched a public consultation to collect the views and opinions of interested parties and stakeholders.

In its Consultation Response from January 2018, AEIP stressed on the balanced application of ESG criteria in investment decisions and the potential of the social aspect of sustainable finance to deliver on long-term value creation and growth.
