| AEIP Secretary-General, Bruno Gabellieri selected for the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group of EIOPA |
|
On 08 March 2011, Bruno Gabellieri, Secretary General of AEIP, was selected as a representative to the employee / employer sub-group of the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group of the European Insurance and occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). This position particularly fits AEIP, considering that AEIP represents the social protection institutions jointly set up and managed by Social Partners (Paritarian Institutions). Mr. Gabellieri’s extensive experience and knowledge with industrial relations and paritarian management will surely represent a vital asset in this advisory group. Mr. Gabellieri is a French lawyer with a PhD on the French Paritarian Coordinated Retirement Schemes for Executives. Likewise, Mr. Gabellieri is the Director of Communication of Humanis, one of the biggest French Paritarian Group of Social Protection providing Retirement Schemes, Healthcare Schemes, Pension Funds, Insurance Schemes and Financial Management. Mr Gabellieri was also the representative of AEIP within the consultative panel of the former CEIOPS (now replaced by EIOPA). AEIP welcomes the decision to strengthen financial supervision, through EIOPA which has the power to issue binding decisions and an overall greater responsibility then its predecessor CEIOPS. The newly formed EIOPA will develop binding proposals for technical standards and ensure their consistent application. It will also have the power to directly instruct individual companies and it will resolve cases of disagreement between national supervisors and play a coordination role in emergency situations. In addition to the appointment of Mr Gabellieri in the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group of EIOPA, AEIP was happy over the selection of Professor Yves Stevens as a representative of academics within the same group. Mr. Stevens is a member of the AEIP Scientific Council, and has often cooperated with AEIP, especially with a Study on the notion of the national labour and social law in the IORP directive.
